Amuse Bouche

Written & DirectedCharlie Lacour
YearMarch 2026
FormatNarrative Short

Amuse Bouche is a short film I wrote and directed in March 2026, set in a restaurant where the food has the uncanny ability to trigger random memories.

The concept was born during a challenging period in my life, a time when cooking became a vital act of self care and appreciation. I realized that the meals we prepare and consume are deeply reflective of our lives, acting as vessels for the memories we carry.

ClientThe French Table
LocationSurbiton, London
DateDecember 2025

In this short interview, we sit down with Sarah and Eric, the owners of Surbiton's award winning restaurant, The French Table, to look back on a quarter century of business.

With this piece, I aimed to portray the love the owners have poured into this establishment, and how independent businesses are built on strong foundations of community.

Deaf, Not Dumb

DirectorEd O'Rourke
DateApril 2025
FormatDocumentary

Deaf, Not Dumb is a short documentary exploring the perspective of Josie, who was born profoundly deaf. From the start, we wanted Josie to feel like part of the crew rather than a subject of the documentary. We didn't want to single her out, something she has dealt with her whole life.

Visually, the documentary reflects this, jumping from VHS footage to high end digital visuals.

Set the Table

Written & DirectedCharlie Lacour
DateNovember 2024
FormatNarrative Short

The idea behind Set the Table was to have a theatrical setting, as if the audience were looking at a stage.

The film follows a dispute between a married couple, revealing a terrifying truth about the nature of the discussion. This film challenged me as a director and writer because of the interesting blend between film and theatre.

Rot

Written & DirectedCharlie Lacour
DateApril 2025
FormatInteractive / ARG

A poetic game exploring the theme of rotting dreams, and how people abandon their childlike nature of dreaming as they get older.

This was my first attempt at breaking into a different kind of storytelling, one that is interactive with a player. I really enjoyed thinking about how a person might navigate the space and interact with different objects to further a story. Something I would love to do again.

Bad News

Written & DirectedCharlie Lacour
DateOctober 2023
FormatNarrative Short

This was my first short film, made upon beginning my course at Kingston University. It is a film about the fear for the future of our world as global tensions grow more and more.

It was a relevant topic then, and even more so now.
